O Allah, I seek Your protection from anxiety and grief, I seek Your protection from inability and laziness, I seek Your protection from cowardice and miserliness, and I seek Your protection from the burden of debt and the tyranny of men.
Note: Sheikh Redwan's verification for Majmu'ah ar-Rasa'il (Al-Ma'thurat chapter), footnote no. 108 states: Narrated from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (r.a.): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) entered the mosque one day and encountered an Ansari man named Abu Umamah. The Prophet asked: "O Abu Umamah, why do I see you sitting in the mosque outside of prayer times?" Abu Umamah replied: "Worries and debts that have overcome me, O Messenger of Allah." The Prophet said: "Shall I teach you words which, when you say them, Allah will remove your worry and settle your debt?" Abu Umamah said: "Yes, indeed, O Messenger of Allah." The Prophet said: "Say in the morning and evening: 'O Allah, I seek refuge with You from anxiety and grief, I seek refuge with You from weakness and laziness, I seek refuge with You from cowardice and miserliness, and I seek refuge with You from the burden of debt and the oppression of men.'" Abu Umamah said: "I did so, and Allah removed my worry and settled my debt." Narrated by Abu Dawud.
