O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant. I uphold Your covenant and promise as best I can. I seek Your protection from the evil I have done. I acknowledge Your blessings upon me and I acknowledge my sin. So forgive me, for none forgives sins but You.
Note: Sheikh Redwan's verification for Majmu'ah ar-Rasa'il (Al-Ma'thurat chapter), footnote no. 110 states: Narrated from Shaddad ibn Aws (r.a.) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The chief of prayers for forgiveness (Sayyid al-Istighfar) is: \"O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no deity except You. You created me and I am Your servant, and I uphold Your covenant and Your promise as much as I am able. I seek refuge with You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.\" Whoever says it with certainty in the evening and dies that night will enter Paradise; and whoever says it with certainty in the morning and dies that day will enter Paradise." Narrated by al-Bukhari and others.
